Mia Odeh was born in Palestine, and at age 16 became a child bride to a much older and violently brutal man. She was brought, helpless and against her will, to Phoenix, Arizona. She endured years of mental, physical, and sexual violence, bearing five children to her tormentor.Despite the cruelties she suffered, Mia never stopped dreaming of a different life for herself and her children. Mia eventually fled her abusive marriage, and after years of struggle, she and her now six children have found a new beginning in Michigan.
