Overview

The stories in M/HOTEL were initially written in hotel rooms. The author sent drafts to composer Max Murphy. If any of them inspired a reaction, he composed a rough sketch and sent an audio file version to the author who would listen to the music obsessively, rewriting stories through an embodiment of his rhythmic and emotional response. When a series of stories emerged from this process, the author worked through them with dramaturg DD Kugler and then began placing them back into an actual hotel room with actor Paul Ternes.
