OverviewThere is currently a great deal of concern about increasing the characteristic strength of concrete used in both small and large construction projects. Increasing this strength leads to the false idea that the constituent elements of the structure can have smaller and smaller sections. However, the analysis of the behavior of a structure and its elements is not just about the strength of the concrete and/or steel, but also about its Modulus of Elasticity, specific to each type of concrete, which determines its deformation capacity (MEHTA and MONTEIRO, 2008). Concrete does not have a linear behavior throughout its Stress x Strain curve. Knowing this characteristic of each concrete is of fundamental importance for analyzing the deformations and cracking of the concrete, whether it will withstand the loads that will act on it (Ultimate Limit State - ULS) and whether these loads will not cause excessive deformations (Service Limit State - SLS).
