Instrumental Methods for Analysis and Characterizations of Phytopharmaceuticals

Overview

This book focuses on phytopharmaceuticals and herbal drugs, effectively bridging traditional knowledge with modern sciences. It comprehensively discusses both conventional and novel drug delivery systems and addresses analytical and quality control challenges to ensure that herbal formulations comply with scientific and regulatory standards. The book elucidates the fundamentals of herbal drug delivery, rational strategies for dosage form selection, and key issues related to analysis and standardization. The chapters explore the instrumental methodologies for qualitative and quantitative analysis (HPLC, HPTLC, LC-MS), structural elucidation (NMR, FTIR, LC-MS), crystallinity evaluation (XRD, SAED, DVS, SEM), pharmaceutical property assessment (such as rheometer, pH, DLS), thermal behavior studies (DSC, TGA), estimation of volatile components and residual solvents (GC), morphological characterization (TEM, AFM), and elemental analysis (XPS, ICPMS). By integrating theoretical concepts with practical methodologies, this book serves as a valuable reference for students, researchers, and professionals of ethnopharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences.
