On October 5th, 2005, Gydia 'Sunshine' Haynes passed away at the age of 43. Gydia was the sister of Rita King (daughter of blues legend, B.B. King). This book, written by Rita, provides a tangible memory of a collection of messages, letters, and emails from Sunshine, juxtaposed with selected passages from the Bible that gave Rita comfort during her time of extreme sadness and grief.At first glance, Messages from My Sister appears to be just that, a very personal book that details correspondence between two sisters. However, upon reading it carefully, it soon reveals itself to be a reminder of how faith plays an important part of everyday life.In my opinion, Rita King has been extremely brave to write and publish this most unique book. It is deeply personal and yet widely accessible to anyone who needs encouragement and motivation. I'm glad that I read it.Richard Wall, author of Fat Man Blues. Author Information

RITA KING, along with being the daughter of B.B. King, is an Ambassador of the Las Vegas Blues Hall of Fame, a Trustee of the Las Vegas Blues Society, and an advocate for the Alzheimer's Association. She is the author of a coffee table book (On the Road with My Dad the King of Blues Mr. B.B. King) and is the co-producer of a spoken word tribute album that was short-listed for the 2016 Grammy Award nominations.
