Author Information

A picture paints a thousand words for young readers who can see. But for visually-impaired young readers, just a few more words paint a thousand pictures. Sherri Eri, being herself visually-impaired (VI), weaves in a little more description into her stories than is usual in picture books.Think of it like the visual descriptions VI audiences can listen to while a movie or tv program is playing. The Visual descriptions help to explain onscreen action that dialogue or narration alone do not.Similarly, with text descriptions woven in, VI picture book readers are better able to picture the illustrations when they are reading an e-book by themselves or when someone is reading the story to them. And that's why Sherri calls her brand Picture The Book. Nuratiqah Sabrin's passion for creating digital drawings, especially of landscapes, mermaids, and other creatures, led to her current career as a picture book illustrator. She loves stories, and is able to visualize and translate an author's words into enchanting illustrations.Born and raised in Sabah, Malaysia, she now illustrates out of Istanbul, Turkey. And just like most little girls, she was (and still is) enraptured by mermaids and fairy tale princesses. This makes her the ideal illustrator for this love story of Mermaid and Merprince.
