Meridian Brown and the Amazing Sketchbook is a children's adventure story about life at school, but with a strange twist. Nine-year-old Meridian is pleased to be returning to her old school. When she finds a magic sketchbook in the attic, she hopes to impress her friends with it. Meridian wants to show off the sketchbook's amazing ability to change things. But Meridian is in for a big surprise when she realises that things are very different at school. What could have happened? Using her sketchbook to solve problems, Meridian is able to remain focused until change comes about. This creative and fascinating book is set in 1970s Guyana, South America. About the Author: Holly Nurse grew up in Guyana and England. She now lives in London. She wrote the story to share aspects of her own childhood experiences and to explain the rigid teaching style in primary school, a wonderful teacher who 'out of the blue' came and made a change, fear of fighting against traditions and relying on other sources for support.
