Overview

This second work in the Rivers of Time series, sequel to Supernova, continues the story of Stark Raven, as he travels around the known universe in a small deep freeze. Revived on Pandamon, he is taught by Sartris, a Pran exopile who is imprisoned for teaching questioning, which is not allowed by the state religion. Sartris finds a way to communicate his teachings, first by drumming, and by words and telepathy, before he is executed, which sets off a revolution. Surilen and Urvin are supporting the rebel cause, but the government buildings containing the records of the Vril and Meta-gestapo are unfortunately destroyed by the mobs. On Earth, Uris and Kurege are placed at the Los Alamos laboratories doing strategic government work. Uris is placed in a lab restoring and helping to understand Andro, the robot, the Probe that had descended in 1947, the Pandamon ship captured in the Pantex raid some years before, and her own ship, The Pearl. Urme, the couples young daughter is recognized by Andro as the focus of his prime directive, to protect the House of Ur. The Spear of Destiny is obtained by Metastopiles at Los Alamos, and material is removed and stored in cryogenic storage in preparation for cloning. Metastopiles is the PADSTE, the Personal Assistant Director of Science, Technology, and Engineering, of the Los Alamos National Laboratories, and in this position is able to direct over 5,000 of the nations top researchers, directing hiring and the future of the USA. As owner of the powerful Roth Pharmaceuticals Corporation, he grows immensely wealthy, using the wealth to manipulate the markets, the politics, and make himself even richer. The money is used to buy gold to create the gold coils of the superconducting electro-magnets for his next generation star/time ship, The Lucifer class warships which he will use to make himself god-emperor of the known universe. The perfect body that he seeks is understood to be possible through the genetics of the child, Urme. The consciousness transference program is well underway in the bowels of the Chemistry, Metallurgy, Research Building, in the MERGE system developed as a totally quantum entangled computer, which upon obtaining consciousness, mistakenly assumes the personality of Mergatroid, a queen of eleventh century Scotland. The mistake by a researcher in Bose-Einstein Condensates leads to an implosion at the Los Alamos National Laboratories, changing everything. It's The End of Time.
