Antes de los 18, Matthew Dicks había muerto dos veces y «resucitado» gracias a los médicos de las ambulancias. A los 18 se fue de casa y se puso a trabajar en múltiples trabajos «sin futuro» hasta que le robaron a punta de pistola, a los 23. Este tercer cara a cara con el destino le convenció para levantar el trasero e ir a la universidad. Ahora es titulado en Filología Inglesa y Educación, y tiene un máster de Enseñanza con Tecnología.
