Gillett became the first woman and first African American to serve as president of Lexington Theological Seminary in 2011. With over 30 years of higher education experience, she has served at institutions like Transylvania University, Midway College, and the University of Northern Iowa. She has an earned doctorate in education from Northern Illinois University. A dedicated leader in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Dr. Gillett has contributed significantly to theological education and church ministry. Dr. Gillett is married to Rev. Dr. Donald K. Gillett II, with whom she has four children and one grandchild. Rev. Tanya J. Tyler is the Senior Pastor of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
