Megaliths and Graphical Markers in Landscapes: New Techniques of Documentation

Overview

Megaliths and Graphical Markers in Landscape: New Techniques of Documentation brings together the papers presented at Session 366 of the 29th EAA Annual Meeting, which took place in Belfast (Northern Ireland). In addition, it includes contributions from other researchers who wished to take part in this collective publication, dedicated to the study of megalithism and open-air rock art. The collected works share a common interest in the application of new methodologies for the analysis and documentation of these monuments, with the aim of deepening our understanding of their role within broader cultural and landscape contexts. Through interdisciplinary approaches, the studies presented here address key questions related to the processes of occupation, transformation and perception of territories during Prehistory. Taken together, the volume offers an up-to-date and critical perspective on the importance of megalithic features and graphic markers in the configuration of prehistoric landscapes, thus contributing to the advancement of archaeological heritage studies and their conservation.
