Table of ContentsReviewsReviewed By Tammy Ruggles for Readers' Favorite, 5 Stars; Meditations in a Crisis: A Practical Guide with 8 Meditation Exercises for Adults & Children by Paul Kolberg is a short and compact book full of practical guidance on how to use meditation in a crisis to calm one's mind, to maintain a sense of control, and to master emotions without pushing them into denial or minimizing them. The outline of the points in meditation is presented with the number 6: Meditation in 6 seconds, 60 seconds, 6 minutes, etc. The author breaks down the origins of meditation, explains why it's helpful, and offers meditation exercises for children as well as adults. Almost every person will experience a crisis in life, and this book can help settle the uncertainty, emotional trauma, confusion, and depression that accompany it. The author writes from an expert point of view. He clearly knows his subject, believes in it, feels an urgent need to share it with a world in crisis, and walks readers through each step of a simple but rewarding process. It prompts children and adults alike to ponder concepts like I'm part of an un-ending universe , I'm part of creation , I matter , without stepping on anyone's personal beliefs. Overall, Kolberg's Meditations in a Crisis is extremely useful, and he presents the information in a way that is appealing to someone who is new to meditation, and in a way that isn't overwhelming. If you have 6 minutes to spare, you can practice meditation. The kind of meditation Kolberg teaches is far removed from the lofty goals of higher enlightenment. He's just showing people how to calm themselves through basic meditation. In today's stressed-out Coronavirus days of quarantine and social chaos, Meditation in a Crisis by Paul Kolberg is the perfect remedy that families can engage in together. This book proves that it doesn't take 300+ pages to teach someone a new skill, and the benefits of that skill. This book proves that it doesn't take 300+ pages to teach someone a new skill, and the benefits of that skill. Author InformationPaul Kolberg was born in England to a mother of Irish parentage and a father of Prussian ancestry. Paul began asking questions about religion and philosophy from his childhood. Although Paul passed the entrance exams to read English at Oxford University, he went on to read law and qualify as a solicitor. As a lawyer, Paul practised and travelled throughout the world: he has been involved in several landmark cases and had the good fortune to work with many extraordinarily talented lawyers and clients. Many of his cases involved acting for the underdog against the State and large Corporations. Paul's travels, cases, and the many people involved from all backgrounds, provide a huge resource for his writing. In 2014, Paul retired from the law and began a career in writing. His particular interest is in enabling ancient philosophical, religious, and spiritual teachings to be understood in a modern context. Paul seeks to lift the veil of obscure archaic language, so that profound ancient wisdoms can be applied on a practical basis, in pursuit of our true and only purpose in life: to learn how to be happy. Paul is a qualified mediator, as well as a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, with a Diploma in HR Management. Outside of writing, theatre and cinema, Paul's interests are an eclectic mix. He is a single handicap golfer, qualified County Squash Coach, an RYA qualified day skipper, a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu practitioner (white belt), a former professional drummer, a qualified racing driver (amateur level) and Level 4 California Superbike rider. As an avid reader, Paul's interests are truly catholic with a small c . His favourite authors include Charles Dickens, E M Forster, D H Lawrence, Patrick O'Brien (to name but a few), and Paul recently completed Ulysses by James Joyce! Of course, Paul also enjoys the theatre and cinema, and loves watching brilliant and thought provoking films like the Matrix, and the TV series, Fauda.
