He received both his dental degree (2002) and his medical degree (2006) from the University of Leipzig, Germany. Since 2006 he has been a resident at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich, Germany. One of his major fields of interest is bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw, especially the underlying pathophysiology. He has published numerous articles in leading scientific journals and has lectured nationally and internationally on this subject. In 2011, he was appointed group leader for “Jaw bone and osteonecrosis of the jaw” in the Laboratory for Experimental Surgery and Regenerative Medicine (ExperiMed) of the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich.
