OverviewThe aim of this work is to study medical responsibility in the face of the influence of medical representatives in medical prescribing in hospitals.Method: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive and prospective study carried out in the public hospitals of Ouagadougou from January 08 to January 31, 2024. Physicians were asked to complete a self-administered questionnaire.Results: Our study involved 213 physicians in the city of Ouagadougou, with an average prescriber age of 34.7 years and a male predominance of 58.7%. Specialized physicians were the most represented: 51.2%. Doctors with less than 5 years' professional experience accounted for 50%. 95.8% of prescribers said they had received gifts, mostly drug samples 91.8% medical equipment 87.1% catering 39.7% conference funding 39.2% .... The Internet was the most widely used source of information (44.1%) for prescribers to verify the information provided by the medical representative. Antibiotics were the most represented drug class at 62.3%, with high specialty prescribing at 66%.
