Overview

Renal fibrosis is a hallmark of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) that involves the excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix components in the renal interstitium, leading to the disruption of normal kidney architecture and function. Several mechanisms contribute to renal fibrosis, including inflammation, oxidative stress, Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT), and activation of fibroblasts.
