Hughes, a Senior Member of ISA, has 35 years of experience in the design and installation of instrumentation and control systems, including 25 years in the management of instrumentation and control projects for the pro-cess and nuclear industries. He is the author of two books: Measurement and Control Basics, 4th Edition, (2007) and Programmable Controllers, 4th Edition, (2005), both published by ISA. Mr. Hughes received a B. S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado, USA, a M.S. in Control Systems engineering from Colorado State University, USA and a PhD in Engineering Management from California Coast University, USA. He has held professional engineering licenses in the states of Colorado and Alaska, and has held engineering and management positions with Dow Chemical, Stearns Roger Engineering, Rockwell International, EG&G Rocky Flats, Topro Systems Integration, and the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. Mr. Hughes has taught numerous courses in electronics, mathematics, and instrumentation systems at the college level and in industry during his career.
