OverviewPrakash Manu, originally named Chandraprakash Vig, was born on May 12, 1950, in Shikohabad, Uttar Pradesh. Though he completed his M.Sc. in Physics from Agra College in 1973, his passion for literature led him to a life of reading and writing. He spent over 25 years with the editorial team of Nandan, a well-known children's magazine, and currently works as a freelance writer. A prominent name in Hindi children's literature, Manu Ji has written over 150 books spanning stories, novels, poems, memoirs, and plays. His notable novels include Yeh Jo Dilli Hai, Katha Circus, and Papa Ke Jaane Ke Baad, while Ek Tha Thunthuniya earned him the first Bal Sahitya Award by Sahitya Akademi. His popular story collections include Uncle Ko Wish Nahi Karoge and 21 Shreshtha Kahaniyan. His poetry books like Ek Aur Prarthana and Chhutata Hua Ghar are also well-regarded. He authored the first comprehensive history of Hindi children's literature-Hindi Bal Sahitya Ka Itihas-and other critical works. Many of his books are translated into various Indian languages. He has received several honors, including the Bal Sahitya Bharati Award and Girija Kumar Mathur Memorial Award.
