"Il libro presenta i risultati delle campagne di ricerca dirette dagli autori e consiste nella pubblicazione dei risultati dei loro scavi del 1988 e 1989 una grotta dell'Italia centrale, la Grotta Vittorio Vecchi (Sezze, LT). La grotta fu scoperta dagli speleologi e risultò essere stata utilizzata come necropoli per più di 40 membri di una comunità insediata nell'area e contenere materiale archeologico di rilevanza culturale e cronologica. Lo studio della ceramica e degli oggetti in bronzo (il ""focus"" del volume) ha permesso agli autori di datare l'utilizzazione della grotta tra l'antica e la media età del bronzo (all'incirca la prima metà del secondo millennio a.C.), un dato che va d'accordo con il più ampio contesto dell'utilizzazione funeraria e cultuale delle grotte. This book presents the results of field research campaigns led by the authors, and consists in a publication of the results of their 1988-1989 excavations in a cave in Central Italy, the Grotta Vittorio Vecchi (Sezze, LT). The cave, discovered by speleologists, turned out to have been used as the burial site for more than 40 members of a community living in the area, and to contain archaeological material of both cultural and chronological relevance. Study of the pottery and metal objects found (which form the focus of this volume) allowed the authors to date the utilisation of the cave to between the Early and Middle Bronze Age (that is, around the first half of the second millennium BC): a datum that agrees with the broader framework of the funerary and cultural use of caves in protohistoric central Italy."

"Alessandro Guidi è stato Professore Associato di Metodologia e Tecnica della Ricerca Archeologica all'Università di Verona dal 1992 al 2003 e Ordinario della stessa materia dal 2003 al 2008. E' professore di Preistoria all'Università di Roma Tre dal 2008; ha insegnato alle università di Roma-La Sapienza, Macerata e Napoli-Federico II. Lucia Rosini è un'archeologa ""freelance"". Ha ottenuto la laurea in Lettere all'Università di Roma-La Sapienza nel 2016. Dal 1984 al 1998 ha partecipato a numerosi scavi in Italia, anche con funzioni direttive nel 2002 ha collaborato all'allestimento della sezione pre- e protostorica del Museo della Città e del Territorio di Cori (Latina). Dal 2002 al 2005 ha allestito la sezione pre- e protostorica del Museo di Sezze. Dal 2000 a oggi si occupa di archeologia preventiva nelle province di Roma e Latina (comuni di Cori, Priverno, Lanuvio, Velletri, Roma). Alessandro Guidi was an Associate Professor of Methodology and Technique in Archaeological Research at the University of Verona between 1992 and 2003, and a full Professor at the same University from 2003 to 2008. He has been Professor of Prehistory at Roma Tre University since 2008, and has taught at the University of Rome-La Sapienza, Roma Tre University, the University of Macerata, and the University of Naples-Federico II. Lucia Rosini is a freelance archaeologist, and earned a degree in Humanities from University of Rome-La Sapienza in 2016. From 1984 to 1998, she participated in and/or directed several archaeological excavations in Italy; in 2002 she collaborated in the preparation of the pre- and protohistoric section of the Museo della Città e del Territorio of Cori (Latina). From 2002 to 2005 she set up the pre- and protohistoric section of the Museum of Sezze. Since 2000, she has been working on preventive archaeology in the provinces of Rome and Latina (Municipalities of Cori, Priverno, Velletri Lanuvio, and Roma)."
