Her dissertation was on Le Corbusier in 1987. Her academic work at the University of Hamburg history of art faculty concerned the reconstruction and supervision of the Warburg House. She has made lengthy research visits to Paris and the United States and taught at the universities of Jena, Halle, and Berlin (Humboldt) between 1998 and 2000.
