OverviewThis book is written purely for educational purposes, drawing entirelyfrommyfirsthandpersonalexperiencesandunderstanding gained while working with various partners-including CBOs, NGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, governments, and even non-state actors-across several countries around the world. The views expressed herein are solely my own and do not necessarily reflect the positions of any organizations I have been affiliated with. I also studied the process of strategic planning during my Master's degree, and later had the opportunity to lead the Strategic Development process for over four years with Save the Children Norway in Cambodia, Laos, and Albania. Additionally, had the opportunity to lead the strategic planning process and efforts for CAPNI, a national NGO in Iraq. While the perspectives shared may not align entirely with those ofsomeorganizations or professionals in the same field, this book is written with the intent to support and guide recent graduates seeking employment in NGOs, INGOs, or UN agencies, as well as anyone interested in understanding the concept and real-world practice of strategic planning. Since retiring in late 2019, during the global disruption caused by COVID-19-a pandemic that transcended the artificial, human- drawn borders of our shared planet-I dedicated myself to writing. This book is a continuation of that effort and a reflection of my lifelong journey in development and humanitarian work.
