For the last 34 years Mr. Eric R. Pearson has worked in fiber optic communications. This involvement includes a wide variety of activities, as detailed below. Mr. Pearson has delivered 507 training presentations and trained more than 8400 personnel in proper installation and design procedures. This experience includes making and supervising more than 21,000 OTDR traces. Mr. Pearson has performed tens of thousands of OTDR, ORL, insertion loss, and dispersion tests on both multimode and singlemode cables. Mr. Pearson written four definitive texts on fiber installation, The Complete Guide to Fiber Optic Cable Installation, Successful Fiber Optic Installation- The Essentials (2005, 978-0-9769754-2-7), Professional Fiber Optic Installation, The Essentials For Success (2011, SBN9780976975434), Mastering The OTDR [2011], Successful Fiber Optic Network Installation, A Rapid Start Guide, and this text. From 1995-2007, Mr. Pearson was a Director and the Director of Certification, of the Fiber Optic Association (FOA). As the latter, he is responsible for developing requirements and examinations for basic to advanced certification of fiber optic operator personnel. These activities require an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of cable and connector installation. Mr. Pearson has been designated a Master Instructor by the FOA. Mr. Pearson has been a technical expert for a patent infringement suits, law suits between operators and end users, law suits regarding technical fraud in fiber optic cables, and performance specifications. The Academy of Professional Consultants & Advisors (APCA) certified him as a Certified Professional Consultant (CPC). He is listed in: Who's Who Worldwide, Who's Who of Business Leaders, Who's Who in Technology and Who's Who in California. From the Fiber Optic Association, he has received four advanced Certified Fiber Optic Specialist certifications (CFOS/T, CFOS/S, CFOS/C, and CFOS/I). In 2011, FOA has designated Mr. Pearson as a 'Master Instructor'. Since 1999, Mr. Pearson has been a Master Instructor for the Building Industry Consultants Services International (BICSI), and the developer of the BICSI fiber optic network design program. From 1986-2004, he was been a Member, Editorial Advisory Board, Fiberoptic Product News, Mr. Pearson managed two optical fiber manufacturing facilities, two optical cable manufacturing facilities, and built a fiber optic cable business division.
