Author Information

Tom Hendrickson, D.C. is a world-renowned authority on musculoskeletal disorders. As a clinician, teacher, and author, he has devoted his life to the healing arts and believes that the optimum treatment involves a healing for not only the patient but for the therapist as well. One of Dr. Hendrickson’s contributions to the field of manual therapy is the creation of Hendrickson Method (HM), an advanced system of massage and manual therapy. At the heart of HM is a new method of soft tissue mobilization called wave mobilization® that is based on how energy moves through ocean waves. Described as a moving meditation, these rhythmic oscillations bring profound relaxation and healing to both patient and therapist. The Founder and President of the Hendrickson Method® Institute, Dr. Hendrickson has been teaching Hendrickson Method to massage therapists and other health care professionals for forty years. He maintains a successful clinical practice in Kensington, CA, specializing in soft tissue injuries. The second edition of Dr. Hendrickson’s book,Massage and Manual Therapy for Orthopedic Conditions(LW & W, 2009), summarizes his discoveries as a clinician and synthesizes his insights about energy medicine and the latest scientific research in orthopedics. Published in five languages, the book is required reading for many massage courses throughout the United States and internationally. An instructional DVDshowing the techniques described in the textbook was released in September 2011. Dr. Hendrickson is currently working on a book about the spiritual dimension of touch in the healing professions. (www.Hendricksonmethod.com)
