She is part of an incredibly talented family of artists and musicians, which include her father, Ed Emberley; her brother, Michael Emberley, an illustrator as well; her daughter, singer-songwriter Adrian Emberley; and her husband, musician Peter Black. Raised in Massachusetts, Rebecca published her first book in 1979. Since then she has published more than 40 books for children, including a very successful series of bilingual picture books and a collaboration with her father, Ed, of retold fables. She has branched out to textile design, music production, and last year co-founded a new hybrid publishing imprint, Two Little Birds Books.
