OverviewThe world growing population poses major challenges to the efforts championed by various Governments' in facilitating access to affordable and adequate housing for their citizens and this is true in Nigeria. For this reason, there has been need for cheap and appropriate building materials to assist in alleviating the problem of inadequate housing and affordable construction cost. This study focused on the extent of cement stabilized masonry interlocking block, adoption and it's environmental impacts. This work deals with the design and molding of cement stabilized masonry interlocking blocks using aluminum hydroxide and granite powder in total and partial replacement of sand. Huge quantities of construction materials are required in developing countries due to continued infrastructural growth and in turn large quantities of construction wastes are generated every year. Wastes are also generated from various industries such as iron slag from steel industries, aluminum hydroxide from aluminum industries etc. The disposal of this waste is a very serious problem because these wastes require huge space for its disposal and pollute the environment.
