Overview

A stranger rides into the desert town of Sundown meaning to buy land, build a small ranch, and keep to himself. Instead he finds a place run by fear-gunmen who rob the bank road, kidnap for ransom, and kill when it suits them. Merchants look the other way, and good families stay behind locked doors once the sun drops. When the citizens finally force a change, the newcomer is handed a star and a short list of enemies. To keep order he must break a gang's grip on the saloon and the jail, follow a trail of stolen money, and face rumors of buried gold that can turn partners into traitors. With winter coming on and his own spread still unbuilt, he has little time to learn who can be trusted. Every step toward justice brings a new test of speed, nerve, and judgment in a town that has forgotten what law looks like.
