Overview

Mariechen- The Gypsy Princess recounts the heartaches and joys, fears and tears of a young girl and her close-knit family who were torn apart and ravaged by war, reunited in Austria, and made their way to the safe shores of America. Mariechen- The Gypsy Princess is a unique view of the other side of the story. It's different and nothing you have read before because most stories about World War II are written by German soldiers or Jewish refugees - this is a young woman's perspective of the war as she wandered like a gypsy through nine countries ending up in North Dakota.

Author Information

I am a widow, now living in Indian Wells, California. I belong to the Indian Wells Country Club and enjoy golf, putting and bridge and traveling to Europe to visit the family. After my husband died in 1986, I was lost and in much pain. To relieve some of my grief, I started writing. I wrote a short story about my husband's last days before his death and my emotional struggles. When my son died in 1993 of cancer, I once again went to the writing world to relieve some of my pain and sorrow, and it was very therapeutic for me.I took some English courses after my husband's death. I am still writing my life story. No one can describe it as I can because I lived it. It's a young woman's perspective on World War II.The story will capture the imagination of the old and young. I know you'll enjoy reading it.
