In book one, Detective Lee Tracy watched Mariana Richland transform into an elite member of the San Melida Police Department as Police Advocate Officer ten years ago. Since then, Mariana has assisted the city and the police force by sifting through cases related to hers by adding kidnapping and missing persons. Her unique situation put her in the headlines and into the hearts of the people. The two have worked closely during this period and have become best friends. While everyone has their backs turned to Mariana or in the background, Lee has stepped up to be her undercover protector. The two are like brother and sister, which makes them comical and the perfect partners. Lee and Mariana will soon discover they've been designated to handle matters around Captain Navarro and his lengthy absence.
