BRUCE GEELHOED is Associate Professor of History and Acting Director of the Center for Middletown Studies at Ball State University. In 1987 he was appointed Visiting Professor of American Civilization at Westminster College, Oxford. He is the author of several books, including Charles E. Wilson and Controversy at the Pentagon, 1953 to 1957 (1979) and, with M.A. Gates, The Dragon and the Snake: An American Account of the Turmoil in China, 1976-1977 (1986).
