Dr. V. Mohini Giri is one of India’s most outstanding gender rights activists, and advocate for the vulnerable and less privileged. She is the Founder Chairperson of the Guild for Service; A founding member of the Women’s Initiative for Peace in South Asia; Founder of the War Widows Association; Chairperson of India’s National Commission for Women; and chair of the Review Committee on the National Policy for Older Persons. Recognizing her immense contributions, in 2007 the government of India awarded her the Padma Bhushan.|Meera Khanna is Trustee and Executive Vice-President of the Guild of Service. She is also a member of the Committee steering a global treaty to ban violence against women; helped create ""The Last Woman First"", a global alliance for empowering underprivileged women; a Consultant to the Indian Government’s High Level Committee on Status of Women ; a member of the Supreme Court of India’s Expert Committee on Widows; a poet, whose work has been adapted for Bharatanatyam; and the author of In A State Of Violent Peace and Breaking Paths.
