O objetivo do presente estudo é controlar e quantificar, através do diagnóstico por ultrassom, introduzido há anos na medicina como diagnóstico de rotina, a extensão da influência osteopática definida por Barral no fígado no plano transversal. Com isso, pretende-se recolher evidências do mecanismo de ação da osteopatia. No estudo, que envolveu 155 participantes, foi possível comprovar uma alteração estatisticamente significativa na posição do fígado após a manipulação no plano transversal, comprovando assim a eficácia da osteopatia.
