This book examines the expanding use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Nigeria and the occupational health and safety challenges that accompany it. While LPG is valued for its efficiency, affordability, and environmental benefits, its use is often associated with gas leaks, explosions, unsafe storage, weak regulatory enforcement, and low safety awareness among users and workers. Drawing on surveys and interviews with LPG users and stations across multiple Nigerian states, the study highlights widespread gaps in cylinder certification, safety inspections, training, and risk assessment. Statistical analysis and BLEVE-based evaluations are used to assess hazard exposure and operational risks. To improve safety outcomes, the book proposes practical solutions, including a mobile application for cylinder tracking, a strategic health and safety control framework, and Bow-Tie models for hazard mitigation, offering actionable insights for policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
