Born Lawrence Ira Kahn, Larry Harlow is a living legend. He was signed by Fania Records, a fledgling label that would become the Motown of Latin music, in large measure due to Larry s role as its creative architect. There, as both a recording artist and record producer, he combined his strong classical and jazz background with his love of Cuban music, and became one of the creators of a unique New York sound that would captivate the world salsa. He is responsible for 40 gold albums, and 20,000,000 million album sales. His vast success would earn him the nickname el judio maravilloso the Marvelous Jew. Larry became a champion for all Latin music artists when, as a Governor of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, he spearheaded a campaign that would result in the creation of a separate Latin music category for the Grammy Awards. He was subsequently nominated 3 times for a Grammy, and was bestowed a Lifetime Grammy Achievement Award for his many contributions to music. Larry holds a BA in Music from Brooklyn College and a Masters Degree in Philosophy from the New School of Social Research. He has lectured and been an artist in residence at many colleges and universities, among them Harvard, Yale, and Berklee College of Music. He has also performed to sold-out audiences at Yankee Stadium, Madison Square Garden, the Hollywood Bowl and many, many more. Aurora Flores is a twenty-first century Renaissance woman. In addition to being the first female music correspondent for Billboard Magazine, she has penned articles and opinion pieces for publications such as the New York Times, the Village Voice, Ms. Magazine, the Christian Science Monitor, Hispanic Magazine, and the Daily News. Flores is a two-time Emmy winner, and founder of world music band Zon del Barrio. It does not end there she also composes the music for the hit children s television program Dora the Explorer and has been featured on the PBS documentary Latin Music USA, BET s Pasos Latinos, BRAVO s Palladium, When Mambo was King, and the Smithsonian s Latin jazz, La Cominacion Perfect. She attended Columbia s Journalism program, and is a celebrated authority and writer on Latin culture.
