Author Information

Michael Schulz is a author, illustrator and painter with a commercial background in both design and print. He lives a very personal and best of both worlds life in his cottage just outside of urban culture. Schulz has had numerous pets throughout his life, from budgies, gold fish, cats and dogs. It was in the latter that he has found the most interesting and funny characters. This urged him to write and illustrate his first book about pets, Man, A Dog's Best Friend . This book takes a dry and dark humor approach, which is almost synonymous with his own personality. Artists who inspire him are the likes of Renoir, Anselm Kiefer, Roy Lichtenstein, and Edward Hopper. He works in both digital and traditional mediums, but believe that the most power lies in the richness of traditional art, something pixels find very hard to emulate.
