Author Information

Anissa Pérez, MPA, is a second-generation Latina with a deep passion for immigration advocacy, raising awareness about the harms of racism, and celebrating the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion.By day, Anissa is a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher at a woman-owned public benefit company, dedicated to helping organizations serve people more effectively. By evening, she takes to the streets to protest injustices, explores global cuisine through cooking, engages in volunteer work, participates in Christian ministry alongside her husband, and travels the world with her husband and son.Anissa has organized several free informational immigration events for Spanish-speaking communities in the Greater Washington, D.C. area. These events have united immigration attorneys, local public officials, subject matter experts, and like-minded organizations to support the immigrant community. Additionally, she has led impactful initiatives, including coat drives, distribution of ""know your rights"" pamphlets, and breakfast programs for day laborers.Anissa also created a children's Latino Heritage Month (LHM) curriculum, initially designed for her son to connect with their cultural heritage. This curriculum has now been adopted by at least two local schools as part of their LHM programming.Recently, Anissa has embraced a new passion: writing children's literature with a purpose. Her stories aim to educate, inspire, build empathy, and spark critical thinking among young readers. Hi, I'm Nicol, an Argentinian-born and raised designer, illustrator, and photographer with a lifelong passion for art and photography. Since I was a little girl, I've been drawn to the magic of creating, but I never imagined I could turn that passion into a career. Now, through Belvedere Creative Studio, LLC, I have the privilege of transforming your words, ideas, and projects into visuals that truly captivate and endure.
