The names of deceased pious Muslims who are not companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa or of the Promised Messiahas are followed by the symbol rh, which is an abbreviation for rahmatullahi alayhi/alayha/alayhim (may Allah have mercy upon him/her/them). In instances, the actual saluta tions have been set out in full, but wherever this is not the case, they should nevertheless, be under stood as being repeated in full in each case.
