OverviewRankin Male Nudes is an exploration as much of the male psyche as the body. What kind of men volunteer to be photographed in the nude and how do they want to be portrayed? The answers are predictably unpredictable. Responding to an anonymous advertisement in London's TimeOut magazine, men were offered the chance to present their suggestions for shoots - and the most interesting ideas were shot for the project. Leading British fashion and portrait photographer Rankin realised these often fantastical ideas with his characteristic humour and sensitivity. Table of ContentsContent: Following on from the remarkable success of Rankin's female Nudes project last year, Male Nudes this time offers men a chance to experience the freedom to choose how they wish to be seen. In the same way that Nudes drew interest from men and women alike, Male Nudes tackles one of the last remaining taboos in British society, and is destined to become a national talking point which sensitively addresses the male nude.ReviewsAuthor InformationAbout the Photographer: As Creative Director of Dazed & Confused Magazine, Rankin documented the rise of a generation of British talent in music, art, fashion and film in the 90's, becoming synonymous with the decade's creative explosion. Successfully overturning many of the unspoken conventions of fashion, he has become an internationally recognised portrait and fashion trend-setter. Supporting up-and-coming photographers as a publisher, Rankin's high profile projects such as Celebritation (featuring Jude Law, U2 and Madonna) and the ongoing Nudes series demonstrate his conviction that photography has come of age as an art form as important as any other. Now matured beyond the 'enfant terrible' tag, his freelance career has seen his work and outlook infiltrate the mainstream without compromise Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
