OverviewA Changing WorldChristians, as never before in history, are being required to make decisions that previous generations never had to face. Choices such as: are you for or against stem cell research; genetic engineering; the right to die; cloning; security versus freedom; environmental legislation; global warming; etceteras. In addition, there are the constant pleas for financial support from a hundred or more religious, humanitarian, and political organizations; disaster relief; children's hospitals; television evangelists; animal rights supporters; requests that are not limited to local needs, but global concerns. The list goes on and on.Sound decisions require an understanding, not merely of the issue, but also of the morals, ethics, mores, culture, and customs of society. Furthermore, time itself plays an important part in any decision. What was true in a previous generation, may no longer apply in todays world. Last, but by no means least, Christians must answer to a higher authority. What, if anything, do the scriptures teach that can help sort through the conflicting claims and rhetoric coming from every quarter. In a world rife with mendacity and alternative facts, responsible adults need to be constantly vigilant for deception, especially when it is deceitfully disguised under the cloaks of religion and patriotism. It is the Author's hope that this book will provide to the reader a valuable understanding into the decision making process itself, and will help clarify all of the factors involved. While this book is written from a Christian perspective, anyone who is required to make important decisions will benefit from its insight; and increase their ability to discern the true from the false. As a result, they will develop a much greater confidence in making sound decisions which, in turn, will lead to a more just and better world for themselves, their children, and all mankind.Loyst R.
