Rui Martins dos Santos Rui Martins dos Santos retired in 2016 after 14 years as Head of Risk at Banco BPI, a Portuguese retail bank (Director Geral). Mr. Martins dos Santos earned a degree in Economics at the Universidade Catolica Portuguesa and studied Banking Management for Executives at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, USA. Previously, Mr. Martins dos Santos was a Teaching Assistant at Universidade Catolica Portuguesa (1983,1986/89); Senior economist at the Research Department of the Monetary Authority of Macao (1983/86); Chief of the Foreign Exchange Markets Unit and Concertation with the B.I.S. at Banco de Portugal (1986/1991); a (non-executive) Member of the Board at BPI-Pensoes (pension funds asset management) (1995/2011); and Chief Economist (1991/2000) and Chief Financial Officer (2000/2002) at BPI (member of the board of the Investment Bank).
