Overview

Twelve-year-old Ruth has craved attention ever since she moved from the U.S.A. to Zimbabwe three years ago. Her parents are too busy running their business. Grandpa Nyoni, her new friend and neighbor, provides the love and affection she longs for. When she discovers that he is estranged from his family, she sets out to find them and help them reunite. Shortly after Ruth learns that Grandpa Nyoni has heart disease, he dies, turning her world upside down again. She finds out that he left her a key to a trunk, and inside, she discovers letters addressed to his granddaughter. Ruth is determined to deliver the letters to the granddaughter, hoping this will help her make new friends and allow Grandpa Nyoni's family to reconcile in spirit.
