Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationDr. Bill Smallman trusted Christ as his Savior after being raised in a liturgical Protestant church. He began work as an aerospace design engineer after graduating from John Brown University and marrying Doris Klett whom he met in college. They shared a sense of God's calling to missions, so Bill attended the former Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1967) and they joined Baptist Mid-Missions in 1968. Now with a son and daughter, they served in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, all through the 1970s, teaching in the Baptist Seminary of the Amazon and planting a church in Manaus. Bill initiated the process of nationalizing that seminary which continues under Brazilian leadership. During their furloughs in the Chicago area Bill completed his M.A. in Communications - Intercultural Ministries at Wheaton Graduate School. Once Bill was invited to the administration of Baptist Mid-Missions, the family moved near Cleveland, Ohio, where they still live. Bill served as Candidate Administrator from 1980 to 2004, by then a Vice-President. He had completed the Doctor of Missiology degree (D.Miss.) at Trinity International University in 1985. He completed his time in the BMM office as Director of Global Training and retired at the end of 2009. He was also adjunct professor of Missiology at several Baptist colleges and seminaries. He has ministered in 27 nations around the world. Dr. Bill has also served on the faculty and board of Baptists for Israel Institute, a ministry begun within Baptist Mid-Missions, for over 30 years. Publications include Missions in a New Millennium (as co-editor and author) (Kregel 2000), Able To Teach Others: the Nationalization of Global Theological Education (William Carey Library/Mandate Press, 2001), Classnotes in Biblical Theology by Dr. Marchant King (as Editor), A Missions Toolkit for Local Churches (BMM, 2014). He also wrote numerous articles, book reviews, and chapters in books. Other works are in progress. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
