Das Gupta is presently a consultant (HRM) with the Tata group of companies and is based in Jamshedpur. He joined the Tata Iron and Steel Company (TISCO) in 1966 as a Personnel Officer and retired from that company in 2001 as Controller of Establishment. A Ph.D. from the In- dian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Dr. Das Gupta also holds an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur, in addition to a Bachelor of Law degree and Masters′ degrees in Econom- ics and Labour &: Social Welfare. Dr. Das Gupta has been associated with XLRI, Jamshedpur, as a faculty member in the PM & IR area for several years. He has previously authored two books— Handbook on DisciplinariJ Proceedings and Industrial Disci- plir:e: Concepts, Laws anal Cases, and also has to his credit numerous articles on topics such as collective bargaining, manpower planning, participative management, industrial relations, and disciplinary proceedings.
