Born in Aberdeen, Moir was educated at the University of Edinburgh, where he later became a Professor of Rhetoric and Belles-Lettres. In addition to his academic career, he made significant contributions to the study of history and folklore. Moir s writings include works on magic and witchcraft, as well as various educational texts for young pupils. His notable works include ""Magic and Witchcraft,"" which provides a detailed historical account of the evolution of these belief systems and their societal impact. Moir s expertise extended beyond literature to include photography, where he was considered one of the early adopters of the medium in Scotland.
