Author Information

For author Mary West, the seed was planted early on to become a writer first as a child who loved to write poems and lyrics, later as a mother of young children, and finally through her work for many years as a kindergarten instructional assistant. These experiences have shaped her understanding of what kind of story resonates with a child.Coming up with zany ideas to capture a young reader's attention was a skill she learned through her Kindergarten students. Mary's debut picture book, Maggie and the Mysterious Noisy Bubbles does just that. Inspired by her own beloved sheepadoodle's penchant for popping bubbles, the book's delightful silliness and use of playful literary devices such as onomatopoeia and repetition target that whimsical age. She hopes it fosters a love of reading that remains with them long after the book is closed. When she isn't writing or in the classroom, Mary enjoys spending time with her family, going down the shore, taking day trips, trying new restaurants, and playing Scrabble. She and her husband have two daughters and live in Sparta, New Jersey, with their dog-Maggie, of course.
