OverviewJeanne Antoinette Poisson, also known as Madame de Pompadour, was a member of the French court and was the official chief mistress of Louis XV from 1745 to her death. As she had great influence on him, played a role in the country's artistic life, encouraged the foundation of the porcelain factory of S vres, promoted the laying out of the place Louis XV in Paris, the present place de la Concorde, and convinced the king to build the Petit Trianon palace.
