Overview

George's life is crumbling before her eyes. When her young cousin dies unexpectedly from a drug overdose, she leaves behind two young children. George's aunt is in the end stages of cancer and entreats George to travel to Indiana and take custody of them. As their last living family after a long string of tragedies, George can't bring herself to say no. She takes leave from her job at a record label in Los Angeles with the blessing of her boss, Lucia. Lucia sends her on a side mission while she's in the Midwest, to locate and motivate a musician who's behind schedule. George can handle it, but there's a problem: Ben Macon was the reason her best friend, Mel, took her own life fifteen years ago. Through it all, she's watching her decade-long relationship slip away. As she deals with the aftermath of addiction, death, loss, and a broken heart, she also grapples with startling revelations, and the truth about Macon's past with Mel. Her relationship with Macon takes a steamy turn when he has to rescue her from one of the storms that seem to follow her wherever she goes. When she has to return to LA and real life, George finally breaks under the many burdens she's trying to bear. Will George surrender, and let music, friends, and patient love heal the wounds of her painful past?
