Table of ContentsReviewsLZ Hot! is not a stiff autobiography; it is, rather, a set of amusing and even nostalgic reflections on an adventurous past. A truly enjoyable, irreverent and informative adventure recounted in the casual vernacular of a bush war chopper pilot. I read the book in two sittings and recommend it to all those who remember the distinctive sound of a Puma in the bush. * Defence Web * His tales will make you laugh and pause for those left behind, so crack a beer and raise a toast to anyone that has ever been yelled at by a Cpl in basic training, slept on the floor to make sure a bed is fit for inspection, had a close call during an operation and lived or have lost a friend in the service of your country. This book is for you. * Sabretache, Military Quarterly of Australia * Author InformationAfter an early childhood in Pretoria, Nick reported for National Service duty with the SADF. This saw him deploying to the Border as an infantry soldier with a brief interlude to Pretoria for pilot assessment. Much to his surprise, Nick was called forward for pilot training and this saw him learning his craft on the Harvard and Impala. He soon graduated to rotary with the Alouette and shortly thereafter, in 1977, Nick became a Puma pilot. At the height of the South African Border War, Nick flew Puma helicopters across the 'Operational Area' conducting troop moves, casevacs, fighting patrols with special forces and more. In the Drakensburg mountain range Nick conducted daring cliff rescues, whilst at sea, he was instrumental in a number of difficult rescues. Nick now lives in Durban, South Africa, with business interests in Johannesburg. He continues to love anything to do with aviation. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
