Overview

Minnah Kim has just landed in Canada from Korea along with Ludwig, her piano-playing parrot. Minnah's worried about her first day at school, especially as she's joining class late! No one could have imagined what would be in store for her! Ludwig the Piano-Playing Parrot is followed by three other tales, which provide the reader with a glimpse into rural life in the Himalayas, India. The first story is The Indian Gaddi. It describes the trek taken by shepherds to the Indian Himalayas before the hot summer. The second story is called Jalfu's Cows. We read about Jalfu's family and his farm in northern India. The third tale is called Sarika's First Dusshera Festival. A poignant and descriptive story of Sarika's new life and experiences in a small town in North India.
