OverviewThe global energy sector is rapidly evolving in response to climate change, environmental concerns, and the depletion of fossil fuels. Biofuels, particularly those derived from plant-based sources, offer a renewable and cleaner alternative that can integrate into existing energy systems with minimal disruption. Lower and Higher Plants for Biofuel Production explores the untapped potential of both microalgae and macroalgae (lower plants), as well as oilseed crops and high-biomass grasses (higher plants), as sustainable feedstocks. It provides an interdisciplinary overview of plant-based biofuel technologies, covering biological mechanisms, processing methods, and system integration. Topics include genetic engineering, nanotechnology, bioreactor innovations, and integrated biorefineries. This book also addresses key environmental and socioeconomic considerations, such as sustainable land use, water conservation, and food security. This book offers a comprehensive resource for researchers and policymakers seeking practical, region-specific solutions to expand sustainable biofuel production globally.
