Synopsis: ""Loving Black Women"" is a two-fold book about realigning our awareness to improve the way brothers and sisters love each other, and about overcoming racial discrimination, political domination, and white supremacy. It is Johnson-Redd's strong opinion that African-Americans need to understand Africans in America, to experience nurturing and wholesome relationships despite how African-Americans have been discounted. He elaborates on what he calls the golden question...how much do these oppressive situations impact the _expression of love among people of African heritage in America? He believes that only if we face the future as a united people will we truly overcome and learn how to express pure love. With five headers, Brothers and Sisters: Facing the Future Together, African Identity: African World, Sister Praise Poetry, Black Love: Spoken Word, and Loving Black Women, he covers a multitude of issues and assertions about life and love. After these indigenous words, Johnson-Redd takes readers on a poetic journey. Fighting in the Street is a plea for people of color to stop killing each other. No Matter compares and relates the differences or similarities between Tribal war and civil war. Black Love Spoken Word and Loving You All Seasons, challenge brothers and sisters to 'pull up', and learn to embrace each other so as a people we will have a sequel. LOVING BLACK WOMEN is a seed that will hopefully fertilize our dreams as our ancestors' blood fertilized this land, to produce acute awareness and cogent love.
