OverviewThis book was co-created by mother-daughter team Raechel Titus and Michelle Shelfer. Their aim is to use words and images to plant seeds in young minds about the value and dignity of human life-including life in the womb. Their prayer is that the child who enjoys this book will grow to see the continuity of life in all its stages and embrace life and the Giver of life. The drawings are taken from a collection of renderings of children created over four and a half years called the Foundlings. Michelle drew a child each day for 1,625 days as she imagined those children might appear if they had survived abortion. The Foundlings serve two purposes: firstly, to honor the 2.654 billion children who have perished from abortion worldwide over the last sixty years. Secondly, Michelle's own aborted child, Raechel's sister, acted as an ambassador of God's grace and forgiveness at a time when Michelle found it difficult to receive the forgiveness offered by Jesus for her sin of abortion. Their hope is that the Foundlings act in the same way for others suffering guilt and shame after an abortion experience. For those people, these faces are an invitation to be free and forgiven in Jesus! The book features children of many nationalities and differences, including those with special needs, and with respect also for adopted children, to show that God knows and loves all children and has since the foundation of the world. By God's grace, when faced with an unplanned pregnancy of her own, Raechel chose life and is now the mother of six beautiful children.
